Hi everyone. Before we get to this press release, we just wanted to let you know that there will be a lot of old school merch, studio album cds and signed live cds at these shows. We haven't played all year as a five piece, so we're really looking forward to it!
Lake Trout to Play NYC/Baltimore Shows; Plans to Record with Dave Fridmann
Lake Trout (www.laketrout.com) will play two shows this month: 12/17/09 at The Mercury Lounge in NYC and 12/19/09 at The Ottobar in Baltimore. The band has appeared only a few times in the past year, as bassist James Griffith has been working hard in London on the new UNKLE record, which is set to be released sometime early in 2010 (www.Unkle.com).
Lake Trout has been recording sporadically in Baltimore and now is also making plans to record in 2010 with producer Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT), who worked on their 2005 release “Not Them, You.” The band will be recording for The Biggest Label Ever, a nonprofit record label focused on contributing all record profits to various charitable organizations.
For nearly a decade and a half, Lake Trout has consistently defied genres within the music industry. The Baltimore five-piece has displayed a unique, multi-dimensional blend of rock, creating ambient soundscapes over ferocious rhythms that channel psychedelia and industrial and indie rock.
Reinventing their sound from record to record has been the calling card of this group of diversely influenced musicians. To fully grasp the ingenuity of this band, you must see them live. Alchemists of mood and emotion, Lake Trout push the limits of both intensity and volume. The band is absolutely confident on stage, and as the result of their widely heralded live performances, they have earned a diverse audience of loyalists. Lake Trout continues to attract a wide range of indie rockers, head bangers, math geeks and improv junkies.
