I was regretting that I hadn't had any really interesting run ins with people or places due to the strip mallification of our cities suburbs. But the last few days have proved quite interesting. Cincinatti was awesome for a myriad of reasons. First was woxy.com, which was absolutely fantastic and our performance is up on their website if anyone is interested. They are the future of rock and roll, so tune in to it when you're toiling away @ your desk. Afterwards we found out that the famous Haufbrau Haus of Munich( its a world reknown beerhall) has its only US franchise in Cincinatti, well actually just over the bridge in Kentucky. Many liters of pre show beer was consumed, (we will post the pictures as soon as we get home)
But what made me laugh so hard that cried was the beerhall drum and accordian duo that did your basic beerhall german tunes but later after the sauerkraut and sausage crew left they busted into this fantastic Cars medley! You haven't lived until you have seen two ..ahem.....portly fellows in lederhosen, belt out "just what I needed" on an accordian.The show was great and it was pretty much our last show with Benzos so I got them dru-unk on Lake Trout "shots", Jamesons neat, there was laughing, crying, many lines of Cable Guy and Dave Chapelle and it was good.....not so good for them was having to get up early the next day @ 9 and go play on woxy.com.
Deroit the next night was great in terms of our almost over the top enthusiasm from the fans but the people that worked there all thought they were eminem. And they were just kind of rude.......here is an example of an exchange.....
.Woody to unnamed mean eminem girl- " excuse me, do I see you for a bracelet (you know those over 21 things)
unnamed woman-....(eye-rolling silence)...
Woody- "uh....excuse me...."
Eminem woman--(gestures with her thumb to the upstairs) "upstairs".
Woody to eminem girl ..2- "Excuse me, do you have one of those bracelets".....
.Eminem girl"..2- ..more eye rolling silence ..............
.Woody-"um....."
Eminem girl ..2-(abrasively) "I.D."!!
So couple that with 25 degree weather and an almost Mad Max-ian post world war 3 backdrop outsied in Detroit and you are not relaxed and happy like you should be...Whenever I walked outside I felt like the fucking last ;unslinger or something...and there are creepy creeps everywhere like Night Of the Living Dead, trying to scare you into giving them money. I thought Baltimore was bad... When we were loading out w/Benzos I heard the far off wail of an eerie harmonica and out of the mist of this post apocolyptic parking lot was this cloaked hooded figure hobbling over with one metal crutch like some bizzaro sergio leone type...but he just turned out to be a bum....nothing romantic......I think he did get into one of our pictures.......and he kept playing that damn harmonica.....good bbq around there though..........now we are in chicago..staying right across the street from that married with children fountain. I keep forgetting to shave and then I lost my razor so I'm kind of Che Guevarin' it...but its cool cuz its so damn cold. Can't wait to play tonight!
